Hope
Most people live by hope. They hope that things will get better. They do the same things over and over and hope that change finds them instead of them going out and finding change. I see the same people doing the same thing and they can't figure out why life is so unfair to them. Albert Einstein said that the definition of insanity was "doing the same the thing over and over and expecting different results." The same people that you hear complaining most of the time are the same people staying in the same place doing the same things and expecting different results. Results don't usually find you. It is up to you to find results. People fear change because of the unknown, but the unknown it was intrigues me. I fear selling myself short by not knowing what might have been. I'm sure everyone can look back on their life and play the "what if" game. What if you had taken a chance in life and it didn't work? You can say you took that chance and are better for it or you can decide not to take that chance and never know what might have been. Life should be about taking chances and change. If you never get out of your comfort zone you will always think that where you are and what you are doing now is right for you. For some people it is, but for the majority that are afraid to take those chances, they will spend a lot of their life convincing themselves that life is good just the way it is. Take chances in life knowing you will fail at some and succeed in others. Failure has been a blessing in my life because it has taught me more about myself than the times that I have succeeded. I'm sure it is the same with most people as well. Getting to the "top" is the easy part, but figuring out how to stay there is where the difficulty lies. Dead ends only mean a chance to retrace your path and figure out where you went wrong. Alright.. Time for basketball and green beer. Cheers!
